Boko Haram ambushed and killed seven Chadian soldiers and a security guard on Friday in Mbomouga in Chad’s Ngouboua area. A security source with knowledge of the events said that “The Boko Haram forces lost six of their people and left behind two weapons,”
The ambush and killing came just a day after The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) comprising troops from countries bordering the lake announced that they had killed 42 suspected Islamic State fighters in a battle in the Lake Chad region. The MNJTF also stated that one of its soldiers was killed and 10 others were injured.
Nigerian defense authorities confirmed that the MNJTF operation was conducted in Doron Naira, an island in Lake Chad, and Nigerian border areas including Cross Kauwa and Baga in Nigeria’s northeastern state of Borno
