American rapper Cardi B (Belcalis Marlenis) has asked her fans to help her choose her African name as she announced plans to seek Nigerian citizenship.
There had been words circulation that the 27-year old will be seeking either Ghanaian or Nigerian citizenship and last week, following Donald Trump’s attack of Iran, she wrote, “Specially being from New York. It’s sad this man (Trump) is putting Americans’ lives in danger. Dumbest move Trump did till date (sic) … I’m filing for my Nigerian citizenship,”

The rapper has also sent out a tweet asking her fans to convince her husband, Kiari Kendrell Cephus popularly known as Offset to move with her
Cardi B is just one of many African American celebrities who have taken interest in returning to African. Rapper Ludacris ( Christopher Brian Bridges) whose wife Eudoxie Mbouguiengue is Gabonese has acquired a Gabonese citizenship. Bristish actor, Idris Elba last month acquired citizenship of Sierra Leone, his late father’s birthplace. American actress and comedian Tiffany Haddish was granted Eritrean citizenship in May 2019. In August 2019, actor and producer Samuel L Jackson received a Gabonese passport after he was hosted by Ali Bongo, the president of Gabon
