The Africa Union has elected President Paul Kagame of Rwanda as the new chairperson of African Union Development Agency- New Partnership for Africa’s Development (AUDA-NEPAD) Heads of State and Government Orientation Committee (HSGOC).
Mr Kagame was unanimously voted during the AUDA-NEPAD the 37th African Union Development Agency – NEPAD Heads of State and Government Orientation Committee (HSGOC) Session that took place over the weekend in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. During the session, Africa Innovation Outlook III and Agenda 2063 report were launched. President Alassane Ouattara of Ivory Coast presented the Agenda 2063 report.
The 37th Session of the HSGOC was convened on the sideline of 33rd African Union Summit chaired by President Macky Sale of Senegal. During the High-Level Forum of some African Heads of States aimed at drawing up security plans and negotiate implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA).
After the elections, the outgoing chairperson, President Macky Sall expressed his confidence in the new chairperson’s is ability to stir the continent towards transformation. In response, Mr Kagame thank the outgoing chair for his exceptional performance. “The transformation of the NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency into AUDA-NEPAD is affirmation that NEPAD is the right vehicle to drive the transformation on the continent” Mr Kagame noted
I am counting on President Macky Sall’s and Dr Mayaki’s Support and will continue to seek their counsel beyond their service period” He added. He also announced that AUDA-NEPAD and the African Union Commission will be much stronger delivering as one. Dr Ibrahim Mayaki is the CEO of AUDA-NEPAD
President Kagame will chair theHSGOC from 2020-2022 The Africa Agenda 2063 has seven aspirations and overall continent aspirations stand at 33%. The seven aspirations include:

- An Integrated Continent, Politically United and Based on the Ideals of Pan-Africanism and a Vision of African Renaissance
